Visitors to downtown Pleasanton this spring are in for a special treat as they discover the sidewalk exhibit of eleven life-size Seward Johnson bronze sculptures along Main Street. The double take-inducing pieces depict ordinary people engaged in everyday activities and offer a unique opportunity to pause, admire and capture unusual photos. Favorite pieces include a gentleman reading a newspaper on a park bench, a child welcoming a soldier home from duty, an elderly woman carrying a bag of groceries and a fisherman casting his line from the bridge at Arroyo Del Valle.
The collection, which has been admired in world-class cities like New York, Paris, Rome and Hong Kong, was brought to Pleasanton through the efforts of the city's Civic Arts Commission and will remain in place through June 30, 2010. More information is avaiable at www.pleasantoncivicarts.org.
