Grand Theatre Center for the Arts presents: Ansel Adams: Deepest Sense and Trailhead: The Journeys Begin Photographs by Alice Delaurier-O'Neil & Glenn Moore
Ansel Adams: Deepest Sense is presented as part of a three-way collaboration between the University of the Pacific’s Brubeck Institute and Reynolds Gallery, the Stockton Symphony, and the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.
Exhibitions will be held at the Grand Galleries in Tracy and the Reynolds Gallery in Stockton as a precursor to the 2009 Brubeck Festival featuring the Stockton Symphony, under the direction of Maestro Jaffe.
The Stockton Symphony will premier a new work by Dave and Chris Brubeck, entitled Ansel Adams: America!, inspired by the art of the master photographer.
Ansel Adams: Deepest Sense
presents masterworks from the Museum Set Edition of Fine Prints on loan from the collection of Ms. Alison Jaques, the granddaughter of the profound photographer. Adams (1902-1984) is celebrated for his powerful sense of position in landscape photography and iconic sensitivity to beauty.
Throughout his career as an artist, educator, innovator and writer, he captured the landscapes of Yosemite,Yellowstone, Death Valley and the Sierra Nevada. The exhibition is titled from a quote appearing in the catalogue for his exhibition
The Unknown Ansel Adams,
at The Friends of Photography in 1982, where he stated, “A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed, and is, thereby, a true manifestation of what one feels about life in its entirety.”
Trailhead: The Journeys Begin – Photographs by Alice DeLaurier-O’Neil & Glenn Moore is a collaborative exhibition that is the result of a mutual friendship and love of photography. The result of their partnership, which combines hiking and art, is a collection of thousands of images. Together Alice and Glenn encourage our community to explore and experience nature along with their cameras. The Artists will offer a Gallery Talk in support of the exhibition of interest to naturalists and photographers alike.
